Savannah Rails to Trails 50k 25k
The Savannah Rails to Trails is a 25k or 50k running race event that will be held on November 2, 2024 The race takes place at Fort Pulaski and the McQueen’s Island trails in Savannah GA. This event has the history of being the first Ultra Marathon in Savannah brought to the area by Savannah local Dan Hernandez, RD and owner of Run 4 a Reason LLC. In 2013 the purpose of SavRtT was to raise awareness, donations, and volunteers to help maintain and improve the beloved trails. Sadly, the McQueen’s Island rail trail was taken out in 2016 due to hurricane Matthew. The reconstruction of the trail is finally finished, but we are deeply afraid of its demise due to another hurricane or lack of maintenance.
The last Savannah Rails to Trails event was held in 2016. Now, it is brought back with the same mission Organized by Run 4 a Reason LLC in cooperation with Rough Runners R4R INC. Rough Runners R4R INC is a local 501c3 non-profit organized to support our local community needs.
The project will start with beautifying and constructing an entrance and parking for the McQueens Island trails. This is at the entrance of the US National Monument, Fort Pulaski. We would also like to have a plaque made for the entrance thanking the contributors and community. Once complete we will continue maintaining and addressing needs of the trail. Our goal is that through this event, sponsors, and our enduring community can raise donations and awareness for the trail to make this project happen and continue through the years.

Title, Top, Mid and In-Kind sponsors can have a tent at the race in the Sponsor’s area. Please be aware, Fort Pulaski is a national monument under the national park system and it is unlawful for items to be sold on park grounds. Gifts, coupons, and advertisements are welcome to give out to all participants, volunteers, and staff. Your sponsor dollars go directly towards race expenses, and to fund the project.
